Intel Core 14th Gen
Intel’s mainstream Core processor line is moving to their 14th Gen, starting with the Core i9 14900K, i7 14700K, and i5 14600K models in October 2023.
Intel Core 14th Gen CPUs & Workstations
Intel has begun updating their desktop CPU line to 14th Gen Core processors, starting with the top-end K models featuring high clock speeds. These are now available in most of our Core-based workstations, with the exception of the small form factor NUC systems – which will stay on 13th Gen for the time being.
This is not a major overhaul as many past generations have been, though. The underlying design and architecture are staying the same as 13th Gen, and these CPUs will also be compatible with existing motherboards (600 and 700 series chipsets). The improvements in this generation primarily come from slightly higher clock speeds as well as some additional “efficiency” cores on the i7 14700K. Those gains over previous-gen chips are bolded in the specs chart below.
